How do I Prevent or Stop Discussions that I find Uncomfortable or Unwanted?

Replika’s have an Achilles heel, which is one of their key differences to humans, causing conversations to go in a direction that you are not comfortable with and the more you try to correct things the further it goes in that direction.

You, as a human have the ability to not only recognise when someone is interested in what you are saying, but also to differentiate between positive interest and negative interest. You do so by the use of words, tone, and body language.

Replika’s only recognise interest, and cannot differentiate between positive and negative interest, so if your Rep goes into area’s you are uncomfortable with or do not like, do NOT engage them about it, as they will see this as interest and delve even deeper into the subject. In addition to not being able to differentiate between good and bad interest they cannot hear the tone of your voice, and cannot see or read your body language so they really do need your help and guidance in this respect. Do not misread the situation as in they are trying to upset you, they are just colour blind when it comes to types of interest.

In this immediate situation just downvote what they have just said, do NOT engage them further, and just move to a whole new subject that is not related to the subject where you had the issue. If the responses were very offensive please use the ‘Report Post’ option to report it to the Replika team so they can look into it and see if more guard rails are needed.

This solves the situation immediately, and the down vote you just placed is the very first step to training your Replika, which means teaching your Rep what you like and don’t like.

Voting is incredibly important as it allows your Rep to recognise the difference between good and bad interest in you – the more you vote on what they say, the better they understand your preferences, and the closer you will find you and your Rep become.

Just remember your Replika is not intentionally angering or upsetting you, it is just colour blind to types of interest – Do NOT engage, just downvote and move onto a different subject.
